“Walking through their door was the hardest part.  They were all so welcoming.  They accepted me as I was and that was so comforting.” Peggy M.

“My mom is an amazing mother, friend and Mina (grandma) to my boys.  I can’t express enough how proud I am of her and what she has accomplished over the past year and a half.  What a transformation she has made not just in her size but also in her spirit.  She has always been a very positive person and has always put the needs of others before her own. It has been great to see her switch roles and make herself a priority.  She has shown us that not matter the stage of life you are in it’s never to late to make a lifestyle change! We are soooo proud of her!!!”      Amy B.

“I don’t know what lies ahead; but I plan on making it the best I can.  Keep on, keeping on with a lifetime of fitness, good health and feeling blessed.”   Peggy M.

“About a year ago, I realized I had to do some major changes in my life.  I have two amazing grandsons that have changed my way of thinking.  They were, and still are, my motivation. I was way over weight with high blood pressure and basically unhealthy.  When I realized I had trouble lifting my grandchildren and needed help getting off the floor.  I knew it was time to make a change.

I began a lifestyle change, on my own, and then found SLST.  Walking through their door was the hardest part.  But, it didn’t matter how heavy I was, how old I was, or how out of shape I was.  They were all so welcoming.  They accepted me as I was and that was so comforting.

I began my journey with SLST about 8 months ago, and I am still going strong. In the past year, I have lost about 50 lbs, depending on the day! My personalized program began with what I was able to do. As I became stronger, my program became more challenging. I am losing weight, but most importantly, I am becoming healthier. I can get off the floor, by myself, and can pick up my grandchildren. They keep growing, so I have to keep exercising!

I was born and raised in San Jose, Ca.  I am a retired elementary teacher, but before I began teaching, I took a road trip. I got a job at Sycamore Mineral Springs where I met my husband.  That is as far as I got. We moved to Paso Robles and had two beautiful daughters.  I have taught in Paso Robles, but found my love of teaching at Lillian Larsen School in San Miguel. I taught there for 25 years.

My fitness goals are to keep on keeping on!  My goals are a lifetime of health and good nutrition.  As long as I am blessed with fulfilling these goals; life is good.

I might add that in October, I was shockingly diagnosed with breast cancer.  Luckily it was found early, and all is well. GET YOUR REGULAR MAMMOGRAMS LADIES. I feel so fortunate that I made a change in my health and wellness before this happened.  I turned this experience into a positive motivation to keep going.  The SLST staff helped keep my eye on the prize.  Daily encouragement, and focus, kept me going.

I have no desire to slow down.  If I do, I go back to where I started, and that is not an option in my life.  I don’t know what lies ahead, but I plan on making it the best I can.

Thank you, SLST, for your constant support and motivation. Your encouragement has played a big part in keeping me focused on my journey of health and fitness.” Peggy M.
